NSS ACTIVITIES 2022-23
Khalsa College Amritsar is running four NSS units of 100 volunteers each, which are being co-ordinated by Dr. Jasjit Kaur Randhawa (NSS Incharge), Dr. Zorawar Singh, Dr. Sandeep Singh and Dr. Poonam Sharma (Programme Officers). Students always get a number of opportunities to participate in a number of programmes being organized by NSS units from time to time including tree plantation drives, health check-up camps, literacy drives, agricultural development, cleanliness drives and voting campaign drives. NSS units always aim at inculcating a spirit of social welfare among students and sensitise them towards nation building. 400 students became the part of NSS units as NSS volunteers for this session. Students participated in all the NSS activities in full swing. All the major days and drives including tree plantation, vaccination awareness and motivation, literacy, agricultural development and cleanliness drives were celebrated.
- A one day seminar was organized on “Horrors of Partition” on 13-08-2022 in the college seminar hall. More than 200 students participated in the seminar.
- Independence Day celebrated at the main open air theatre of the college on 15 August, 2022.
- A one day seminar on “Benefits of Yoga” was organized on 23 August, 2022. More than 100 NSS volunteers participated in the same and took benefits from the health benefits of yoga from the seminar.
- Celebrated Environment Day on 17 September, 2022 with poster making competition. More than 200 students participated in the event.
- Inspector S. Paramjit Singh, Incharge, Zila Saanjh Kender, Amritsar delivered a talk on “Traffic Rules and Drug Abuse” to NSS volunteers of Khalsa College Amritsar on 23/09/2022 in College Seminar Hall. Inspector Amandeep Kaur generated awareness amongst the students against Cyber Crime.
- A cleanliness drive was organized under the banner of “Clean Campus, Clean Surroundings” on 26 September, 2022. The students collected garbage and plastic bottles from the college campus and cleaned their surroundings areas. This programme created awareness among students for social working and wellbeing.
- More than 100 students generated awareness about “Stubble Burning” among the farmers of the surrounding villages during awareness observation weeks from October 3-8, 2022.
- A lecture on “Awareness on Stubble Burning Issues” by S. Sukhdip Singh, School Lecturer, Zira was organized on 31 October, 2022. More than 30 students participated in the event.
- “Rashrti Ekta Divas” was celebrated on 31 October, 2022. More than 100 students participated in the event and took part in the group discussion.
- International yoga day was celebrated on 21-6-2023. More than 200 students and faculty members participated in the event.
