New Skill Development Centre to Provide Employment Opportunities Inaugurated at Khalsa College
With a view to promote professional courses and provide employment opportunities, a new Khalsa Global Reach Skill Development Centre was today inaugurated at historic Khalsa College here today. The centre will have IAS, IPS, PCS and other competitive examinations department apart from the vocational courses wings to prepare the students for the top jobs as per the new industrial requirements.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia after inaugurating the Centre said that the modern education must focus on professional courses and skills enhancements as per the new global requirements of placements. ``We hope that the Centre would emerge as a skill development centre of repute in the coming times``, said he thanking USA based Khalsa Global Reach Foundation, which has funded the building of the Centre.
Spread in 0.75 acre the four-story ultra-modern building was constructed in a record time with the cost of around eight crores, said Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honorary Secretary of the Council. Swinder Singh Kathunangal, Vice President, Gunbir Singh, Finance Secretary, other office bearers and members were also present on this occasion. Chhina said the Centre will help the students to get training in skill-oriented courses. The building he said is constructed while keeping intact the original design and architecture style of iconic Khalsa College building.
He lauded the work of Engineer NK Sharma, Construction workers. Majithia earlier thanked Global Reach Foundation head Gurvarinder Kaur Sandhu for the financial contributions to the building. KCA Principal Dr. Mehal Singh said management has always been serious about adding new facilities for the students, modern techniques as he thanked Majithia and Chhina for their cooperation in constructing the Centre. The building he said will also house the computer lab and library for the convenience of the students.
