MoJo –Mobile Journalism Inaugurated at Khalsa College, Amritsar in Collaboration with CMS Vatavaran


Keeping the spirits afloat and ensuring focus on environmental issues to inspire and encourage conservation action Through Mobile Technology a 3-Day Workshop on Mobile Journalism –MoJo was organized by the PG Department of Mass Communication Video Production, Khalsa College Amritsar in collaboration with CMS Vatavaran, New Delhi, and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology.
The beginning of the event started with the Inaugural ceremony in the seminar room with Chief guest Dr. B.K. Tyagi, Professor Former Principal Scientific officer ,Vigyan Prasar ,DST ,GOI , and other chief Guest Prof Dr K.S Bath, Joint Director Science and Environment Outreach ,Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Guest of Honor of the event and Principal of the College, Dr Mehal Singh and Mr. Ritesh Taksande, Course Director – SKIFT (Skilling India in Film & Television) at Film and Television Institute of India, Mojo Educator, Film and Photography Educator, and moderator of this workshop Mr Sabyesachi Bharti, Deputy Director CMS Vatavaran.

Principal of the College Dr Mehal Singh, Dean Academic Affairs Dr Taminder Singh ,Prof Jaspreet Kaur and Head of Department Mass Communication and Video Production Dr Sania Marwaha gave floral welcome to the all guests who graced this event. Dr. Mehal Singh also appreciated the efforts of CMS to organize such motivating events related to environment awareness and preserving diversity. He also added that Mobile Technologies are helping to expand environmental awareness, reduce inefficiencies and find solutions related to many environmental issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Dr. B.K. Tyagi added that he is always ready to work harder in order to preserve nature and biodiversity. He explained main aim behind organizing such events is to find out more Amateur Environmentalist and Journalist by connecting back to the nature.He also added that Mobile Technologies are used these days to monitor pollution and advocate for Environmental changes bringing positive impact in society.

During the event Prof Dr K.S Bath, told the Students that CMS Vatavaran had recognized the power of social media platforms and decided to engage the audience in a continuing process of environmental learning through the medium of Mobile Technology platforms. Social media platforms of CMS VATAVARAN have created a strong online network of Indian and International filmmakers, policymakers, academicians, research think tanks, youth of different age and educational group, environmentalists, journalists, defense & paramilitary forces and nature enthusiasts.

The event commenced with three sessions in which Resource Person Mr. Ritesh Taksande told the journalism students about skills required for Environment Film Making. He also conducted hands on training programme to students by which they can learn how to create impactful conservation films. The concepts of Videography, Photography, Editing, and Social Media Usage were intricately discussed during this three day workshop.

Speaking on the occasion Dr Sania Marwaha , Head Department apprised students about various objectives of this mobile Journalism Workshop .He congratulated CMS VATAVARAN for their efforts and initiatives in organizing these kinds of workshop.
Award function was also hosted at the end of the workshop to present Certificates to students and teachers who attended this 3 day workshop
