The Economic Society of Post Graduate Department of Economics, Khalsa College, Amritsar organized a visit to “Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum” on 4 September, 2018. Forty four members of Society accompanied by Dr Seozy Bhatia, Dr Supreet Kaur and LA Dhuni Chand went to the site. The main attraction of the campus was 45 meter high stainless steel sword on the central edifice which represents strength and courage of the people of Punjab while defending the nation in the hour of need. This iconic structure stands atop in a circular platform surrounded by water body. Names of nearly 3500 martyrs are inscribed on the memorial built at an elevation of four meters. There were total six Galleries in museum. First three galleries depicted about History of ten Sikh Gurus, twelve Sikh Misls and Anglo Sikh wars. Special reference was given to the life of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, his wars and about his contribution to Indian Sikh history. Other three galleries showed history of Indian wars and role of Punjab freedom fighters through audio-visual aids. The students also watched and enjoyed 7D show on “Journey of All Indian Wars”. Students also saw statues of warriors with weapons which were also displayed at the museum.
