Khalsa College Amritsar Organized Online Inter College Competition "Journey of Botanicals from Garden-Kitchen-Clinic” on 21st December 2020.
The Botanical Society P.G. Department of Botany, Khalsa College Amritsar organized Online Inter College competition "Journey of Botanicals from Garden-Kitchen-Clinic” on 21st December 2020. More than two hundred students from sixteen colleges participated in the competition by sending online entries in Poster Making, Organic Rangoli, Seed Collection, Potted Plant Decoration and by making video on Home remedies against viral infections. Because of the COVID-19 conditions the students collected the material from their home kitchen garden and surroundings areas and beautifully expressed their ideas by making Rangoli by using different parts of plants. The students took help of their elders and made videos to explain the ethno botanical use of the herbs commonly grown in kitchen garden. The indigenous knowledge and many new ideas: when, how and what quantity of herbs should be use to fight against viral infection, beautifully came out and discussed at a common front. The students also collected seeds which are being in use in Indian cuisines and explained their use and effect on human health. All the entries were evaluated, categorized 1st, 2nd, 3rd and consolation prizes by the expert committee. The certificate of participation was provided online to all the participants. Deptt. of Botany, Dr. Harjinder Singh, Dr. Madhu Organizing Secretary of Inter College Competition, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Dr. Prabhjit Kaur, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Sushant Sharma, Dr. Maninder Kaur and Prof. Ramandeep Kaur were present during the online event.
