The Botanical Society and P.G. Department of Botany, Khalsa College Amritsar organized a Guest lecture on September 18, 2021. Dr. Harvinder Kaur, Dean life Sciences, extended a warm welcome to the invited speaker and all the attendees. She encouraged the students to listen such type of informative lectures where the students can use this knowledge to save the environment by using naturals in agriculture practices. The lecture was started with the Shabad Gyan by the college students. After that Dr. Rajbir Singh, organizing secretary of the event gave the formal introduction of the speaker. Dr. Geetika Sirhindi, Professor, Department of Botany, Punjabi University, Patiala gave a very comprehensive introduction on the topic "Harnessing Steroids and Oxylipins for Sustainable Agriculture and Human Welfare". She explained the role of brassinosteroids and oxylipins as safe agriculture practices and their protective role in drought stress. The environmental temperature is raising 20C every 10 years which is very alarming and plants are facing drought stress which results into malfunctioning of the important signaling pathways. Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal Khalsa College Amritsar thanked the speakers for sharing their research findings with the college students. He also shared his views on changing environmental conditions and plant responses. Masters and bachelor Students of the department attended the lecture.
