The historical "Khalsa College-Amritsar” witnessed an exuberant "Annual Inter-College Flower Show Spring-2017", Photography Competition and seminar on the topic "Flowering Plants- adopt, cherish and stay healthy organized by the students of Botanical Society, Post Graduate Department of Botany, Khalsa College, Amritsar under the able guidance of Principal, Dr. Mahal Singh which saw the participation of 400 students from 26 colleges. Speaker Dr. (Prof.) AvinashNagpal, Department of Botanical & Environmental Sciences, GNDU, Amritsar delivered a very informative and intriguing speech on the topic of seminar. She depicted through words how flowering plants are an intricate part of human life. Not only does each flower stand for a significant occasion in our lives but also play an important part in our day to day lives by finding utility through medicine and various products. She also informed about the completion of an educative entity, the "E-Herbarium" at GNDU, Amritsar. During the competition students presented potted plants with unique breathtaking arrangements. Principal Dr. Mahal Singh distributed prizes to winners and applauded the efforts of teachers and students on successful organization of such a well-rounded event which encouraged students to share their extracurricular talents and build an all-round personality. Prof. Kirandeep Kaur, Head, Post Graduate Department of Botany, thanked Dr. Davinder Singh, Dr. M.S. Batra and Dr. Parminder Kaur amongst other guests for gracing the occasion.
