The Post Graduate Department of Zoology organized Hands on Training Workshop on Vermicomposting: Procedure and Applications November 20-24, 2023

The Post Graduate Department of Zoology organized “Hands on Training Workshop on Vermicomposting: Procedure and Applications” in collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh and Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The workshop aimed at creating awareness about organic farming and training the school teachers regarding the method of preparing enriched compost with the use of earthworms. During this five days’ workshop, under Environment Education Programme, around 400 school teachers from District Amritsar and Tarn Taran, were provided hands on training on vermicomposting. Various speakers from different Universities/ Institutes discussed different aspects of Solid Waste Management and managing the same through vermicomposting. Research scholars from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, demonstrated step-by-step procedure of vermicomposting starting from the raw organic waste to the final product i.e. vermicompost.
