The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce and Business Administration, Khalsa College Amritsar organized Workshop on “Commerce Education and Skill Development” in collaboration with Khalsa Global Reach Foundation Skill Development Centre held from 28th April to 30th April,2022 in the Computer Lab of Commerce Department. The primary objective of the workshop was to impart training to the students regarding Skill Development by identification of the skills gap in youth and providing skilling training & employment benefits to them. Skill development Workshop aims to acknowledge the ability of the youth and extend their support by serving them with the proper guidance, infrastructure, opportunities, and encouragement that help them achieve their ambitions. Education and skills are essential for everyone, and they both walk hand in hand in everyone's career journey. They are the roots behind the economic growth and community development of a country. 

This Workshop was planned and executed under the supervision of Dr.Mehal Singh (Principal and Workshop Chairman), Dr.A.K. Kahlon (Workshop Director), Dr.SawrajKaur( Workshop Coordinator), Dr. Deepak Devgan (Workshop Co-Coordinator) . In the inaugural session, Dr.SawrajKaur threw light upon the theme of the workshop and emphasized that Skill Development can enhance employability for youthand minimise social challenges in the country. Dr.A.K.Kahlon highlighted   the  significance  of  workshop  that   this  3 Days  Workshop   aims  to enrich  the students with practical knowledge regarding skill development. Dr. Deepak Devgan welcomed the Chief Guest, the Principal Dr.Mehal Singh.  Dr.Mehal Singh congratulated the department for conducting this productive and fruitful event for enhancing the knowledge of youth and motivated the students for pursuing the knowledge gained by them in their future career.

This workshop consisted of six technical sessions besides Inagural and Valedictory Session. Dr.Sawrajkaur, a Resource Person of first technical session shared her views on  “Stress Management and Budding Executives” in which she enabled the students to learn how to manage and reduce stress through meditation. In the second technical session, Resource Person Dr. Ajay Sehgal  provided practical knowledge to students regarding “Investment Planning and Online Trading” . Dr. Deepak Devgan as a Resource Person  trained the students regarding Body Language required for appearing in Interviews in the third technical session and Resource Person Dr.Rachhpal Singh took fourth technical session and delivered his guidance regarding “Automation in Office Management and Exploring MS Office”. Resource Person Dr.Poonam Sharma took Technical Session IV and acquainted the students with the knowledge of “Tax Planning for salaried person.” Resource Person  Dr. A.K.Kahlon headed Technical Session VI and delivered her lecture on “A safe workplace is woman’slegal right”. Around 60 students and 20 Faculty members of the   department   participated   in   the workshop.

The   Valedictory Session was held on 30th April, 2022 and the Registrar Prof. Devender Singh was the Guest of Honour.He congratulated the department for the successful completion of the event and motivated thestudents for retaining the knowledge gained by them in this workshop as it is going to benefit them forever in their life. Dr.Deepak Devgan delivered the vote of thanks for the success of the event.
