The Agricultural Society of P.G. Department of Agriculture organized an awareness compaign on Paddy Residue Management in collaboration with KVK, Nagkalan on 06.2.2020. Students of the department had themselves an organized the compaign commendably holding a them based competition poetry recitation, best out of waste, painting and poster presentation, and innovative techniques.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College Amritsar and Dr. B.S. Dhillon, Director, KVK, Nagkalan.
The necessity of holding such an awareness compaign is need of the hour to educate the farmers about the feasible management techniques available to the farmers to do away with the burning of the crop waste which is creating environmental hazards.Not only farmers, agricultural students should be made aware of these techniques to disseminate information to the farmers during their Rural Agricultural Work Experienceprogramme.
Dr. Mehal Singh emphasized on the need of residue management in protecting environment. He further asked the students to take lead in achieving this cause.
Dr. B. S. Dhillon, Director, (KVK, Nagkalan) introduced about the programme and various steps being taken by the state by adopting paddy residual management technologies.
Further, Dr. Raminder Kaur (Agronomist) and, Dr. Astha (Plant Pathologist) were also present at the occasion.
Dr. Randeep Kaur Bal (Head, Department of Agriculture) presented vote of thanks to KVK for such wonderful initiatives on significant issue.
