The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College, Amritsar organized a guest lecture on
“Mental Health Issues among College Students” on 4 th April, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the
seminar hall of college. It was executed by Dr. Jashandeep Kaur under the guidance of
Principal Dr. Mehal Singh and Dean of Arts and Humanities Prof. Jaspreet Kaur. Dr. Nisha
Chhabra, Assistant Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University College Verka, Amritsar was
the key speaker to deliver her best knowledge pertaining to mental health issues among
college students.
The seminar began with an interactive session with the students where Dr. Nisha Chhabra
asked students questions regarding their perceptions of mental health. The students were
further explained different mental issues, their symptoms, causes and the ways of tackling.
Different activities were practically performed related to positive affirmations and
visualisation with students for the resolution of mental illnesses. A strong emphasis was
laid on the role of positive self-statements.
At last, an interactive session was held where the guest speaker responded to personal
queries by students. Faculty members Dr. Jasdeep Kaur (Sociology), Dr. Bharti Jasrotia
(Sociology) and Prof. Inderjeet Kaur (Geography) and students from different departments
were also present in the seminar hall to attend this guest lecture.
