The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College, Amritsar organized a guest lecture on “Psychology: An Emerging Discipline of Diverse Career Opportunities” on 26th October, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.


 

                    The Department of Psychology, Khalsa College, Amritsar organized a guest lecture on Psychology: An Emerging Discipline of Diverse Career Opportunities on 26th October, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the seminar hall of college under the guidance of Principal Dr. Mehal Singh and Dean of Arts and Humanities Prof. Jaspreet Kaur. It was organised to address the college students about various career prospects in the field of Psychology after completing their graduate and post graduate programmes. Dr. Rupan Dhillon, Assistant Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the key speaker to create awareness among students regarding choosing their career destinations in the domain of Psychology.

                    At the onset, Dr. Rupan Dhillon focused on sharing the impact of career guidance in students’s life. A deep emphasis was laid on the role of personality types in determining career options. She shared her insights on how different personality dimensions are linked with different career outcomes.  The students were further explained different career opportunities which they can explore after pursuing their education in Psychology field. The guest speaker enlightened our students about the process and ways of opting career paths related to counselling, clinical psychology, life coaching, psychometric testing, rehabilitation counselling etc.

                    At last, an interactive session was held where the guest speaker responded to personal queries by students. Students were keen to know more about career options, so they participated actively in order to clarify their thoughts and behaviors.  Dr. Jashandeep Kaur expressed her heartfelt gratitude to guest speaker and all the other members of organising committee. The benign presence and response of students of M.A. Psychology, B.A. Psychology and other disciplines made this occasion a grand success.
