Free BMD Check-up Camp

A free BMD check-up camp was organized by Physiotherapy Department of Khalsa College, Amritsar on 19^th November, 2016. The camp was undertaken with the motive to detect the deficiency of calcium in bones from the age 18 years and above and was inaugurated by Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College, Amritsar along with Registrar Prof. Devender Singh and DAA, Prof. Sukhmeen Bedi. 300 patients were assessed in the camp for bone mineral density levels. The department also distributed free calcium supplements to osteopenic and osteoporotic patients i.e. the persons diagnosed with low BMD levels. They were also advised to follow healthy diet and take other nutritional supplements. The BMD testing equipment was provided by ‘Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’. The camp arrangements were applauded by the people. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh congratulated the staff and students of the Physiotherapy Department for organizing such event and said that the college will keep providing such free services to the society through the camps in the future also.
