The Post Graduate Department of English, of the historic Khalsa College, Amritsar organised National Webinar on RECENT TRENDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE


 

Amritsar: August 07, 2021. The Post Graduate Department of English, of the historic Khalsa College, Amritsar organised National Webinar  on ‘RECENT TRENDS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE’ Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Singh Ramana, Professor of Central University, Bathinda and Prof. (Dr.) Harish C. Narang, Professor of JNU, New Delhi, renowned academicians and scholar graced the occasion as the resource persons. Dr. Mehal Singh, the Principal of the College presided the occasion.

            The Webinar commenced with the virtual tour and history of the college by Prof. Anupam Sandhu, the Head of the Post Graduate Department of English. The guests were welcomed and introduced by Prof. Parneet Dhillon. Dr. Mehal Singh, in his address emphasized on the necessity of Literature for the amelioration of the society. He also mentioned the different levels of meaning hidden in a literary text.

            Prof. (Dr.) Paramjit Singh Ramana in his lecture enlightened on the production of Literature. He discussed the factors and forces that create hegemony and affect the production of Literature while Prof. (Dr.) Harish C. Narang in his address discussed literature, politics and pedagogy in the age of globalization. He enriched the audience with the ethical issues underlying the creative writing and pedagogy with illustration from literature of the past and present around the globe.

            Prof. Anupam Sandhu presented the Vote of thanks. Prof. Sawant Singh Manto, Prof. Supninderjit Kaur. Prof. Malkinder Singh, Prof. Daljeet Singh, Prof. Mamta Mahendru, Prof. Vijay Bernard, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Pooja Kalia , Prof. Gurpreet Singh, Prof. Harsh Salaria, Prof. Saurav Meghand many other faculty members were present on this occasion.This Webinar was attended by more than 350 participants from the various states of India.
