28 September 2023. The P. G. Department of English and Mulk Raj Anand English Literary Society organised literary competitions to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Sardar Bhagat Singh, the great freedom fighter . Dr. Mehal Singh the Principal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with the recitation of College Shabad. Prof. Supninderjeet Kaur, Head of the Department welcomed the guest and appraised that the department constantly organises such events for the holistic development of the students.
Dr. Mehal Singh in his address, emphasized that co-curricular activities assist in nurturing the skill required for tackling the challenges of the life. They also make connection between the contextual issues and curriculum.
Declamation, Poetry recitation and English Language Proficiency Test were conducted in this competition. Dr. Geetinder Mann and Dr. Deepak Devgan, Prof. Parneet Kaur Dhillon and Prof. Daljeet Singh judged the performances. Anmolpreet Kaur, Komal Jossan, and Simranpreet Kaur won the first, second, and third prize respectively in declamation competition. While Harpreet Kaur and Mansi Kalia won first and second prize in poetry recitation. The third prize was shared by sanyari and Kittu Shulka. Gurleen Kaur stood first and Vanshika Rajput second in the English Language Proficiency Test.
Prof. Parneet Kaur Dhillon presented the vote of thanks. She thanked the principal for his guidance and support. She also expressed her gratitude to teachers and students of literary society for their hard work to make the event successful. Prof. Sawant Singh Manto, Prof. Mamta Mahendru, Prof. Vijay Bernard, Prof. Jaswinder Kaur, Prof. Pooja Kalia, Prof. Gurpreet Singh and other faculty members were present on this occasion.
