PG Department of Chemistry organized an Orientation Program for Bsc Hons Chemistry Sem-I, Msc Hons Chemistry Sem-I, Msc Chemistry Sem-I on 23rd August 2022. The Department Orientation Programme for the academic year 2023-2024 was conducted with great enthusiasm and energy. Students being the life of the campus, it's important to orient them towards the academics, co-curricular, extra-curricular activities and the campus right on the first day because for many students going to college may be their first experience away from home, so orientation programme gives them the required aid in getting acquainted with their new neighbourhood.

The main aim of the program was to give the students an insight into the various aspects of college life in the Department of Sciences, Khalsa College Amritsar.

The orientation programme was started with a brief introduction and an overall view on the various activities of the Chemistry Department by Dr. Navalpreet Kaur, Coordinator of Dunnicliff Society of Chemical Sciences. Dr Amit Anand, HOD, Chemistry gave a detailed description on the disciplinary aspects, rules and regulation of the college, examination norms and patterns, instrumental facilities available at Department of Chemistry etc. Then the students were addressed by Dr Kultar Singh, Assistant Professor, P.G. Department of Chemistry, who welcomed the students and explained in detail about the vast inventory of literature available at the library, both in the form of books as well as e-books. All the facilities present at the library were given a short mention, like wifi, LAN, reading hall, research journals. All other faculty members Dr Navalpreet Kaur, Dr Sukhmeet Kaur, Dr Jasneet Kaur, Dr Aabroo Mahal, Dr Kulwinder Kaur and Dr Poonam Sharma, Dr Rajpreet Kaur and Ms Shivani also welcomed the students and motivated them to excel in their respective fields.

Feedback and Conclusion: The College Orientation Programme received overwhelmingly positive feedback from new students. Students expressed gratitude for the detailed information provided and felt more comfortable and confident about starting their college journey. The program successfully achieved its objectives of introducing students to the college environment and fostering a sense of belonging. This programme was a great opportunity for faculty members to get connected to the new batch of students.
