The PG Department of Chemistry at Khalsa College, Amritsar, organized the "Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences X" (RACS X) seminar


 

The PG Department of Chemistry at Khalsa College, Amritsar, organized the "Recent Advances in Chemical Sciences X" (RACS X) seminar, which garnered participation from over 150 students from various institutions including Saroop Rani Government College Amritsar, BBK DAV College Amritsar, Khalsa College of Education, and Guru Nanak Dev University. The event witnessed enthusiastic engagement with more than 50 posters displayed across research and basic sciences categories.

The seminar commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Amit Anand, Head of Department (HOD) and Coordinator of the seminar, emphasizing the significance of such academic gatherings in fostering intellectual growth beyond the confines of classrooms. Dr. Mehal Singh, Principal of Khalsa College Amritsar, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the importance of seminars and invited talks in broadening educational horizons.

Dr. Navalpreet Kaur, Organizing Secretary of RACS X, presented an overview of the departmental activities, setting the stage for the academic discourse to follow. The keynote address by Dr. Vandhana Bhalla, Professor at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, focused on the journey from molecular to supramolecular chemistry, elucidating the essence of research through problem definition and literature review.

Dr. Vandhana Bhalla's presentation aimed at captivating student interest in research methodologies, offering insights into her own research journey. The subsequent talk by Prof. G. Jayamurugan, Adjunct Faculty of IISER Mohali and AcSIR, delved into research on supramolecular chemistry, fluorescent probes, and AIEE, enriching the seminar with specialized knowledge and expertise.

The seminar featured five oral presentations by faculty and research scholars from diverse institutions, complementing the poster presentations. A panel of esteemed guest speakers, including Dr. Taminder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof. G. Jayamurugan; Dr. Amit Anand; Dr. Hardeep Kaur; and Dr. Kultar Singh, evaluated the posters and honored the first, second, and third position holders, along with a consolation prize.

In her vote of thanks, Dr. Punita Tiwari expressed gratitude to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions to the success of RACS X. Dr. Taminder Singh, Dean Academic Affairs, delivered the concluding remarks, underscoring the significance of academic collaboration and knowledge exchange in advancing chemical sciences.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where accolades including mementos and certificates were presented to deserving winners by the dignitaries, marking the culmination of an enriching academic endeavor.
