Majithia Says Modern Education’s Must Aim at Inculcating High Moral Standards
In a candid appeal to students, Guru Nanak Dev University vice chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu today exhorted them to be `Karamyogi’ (work-oriented) persons. He said while getting degrees will open small windows of opportunities for them, the hard work and single minded devotion will usher in new vistas of prospects for better life.
He said this while delivering his convocational address at the 112th Convocation of the historic Khalsa College here. Himself a renowned scholar in sports medicine, Dr. Sandhu said formal education generate ideas but those needed to be put in practice to become successful in life. He addressed huge gathering of the passed out students of graduate, post-graduate and M.Phil classes who received degrees at the meticulously organized academic function at Open Air Theatre.
Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) President Satyajit Singh Majithia who presided over the function said the modern education must aim at setting of high moral standards and enabling them to earn respectable livelihoods. He along with KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina and Principal Dr. Mehal Singh earlier welcomed the chief guest at the campus.
In his address, RMS Chhina said that the students must feel proud to receive degrees from Dr. Sandhu whose academic career had been marked with extra-ordinary achievements and work hard. He also congratulated the students who were specially honoured with medals for their meritorious achievements. While delivering the annual report, Principal Dr. Mehal Singh gave detail account of College’s academic, cultural and sports achievements in the last one year.
