P.G Department of Botany organized a guest lecture on August 7, 2015 at 10.30 am in the Seminar Hall. Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry, GNDU, Amritsar delivered his lecture on “Receptor-Ligand Interaction in Nature”. During his speech Dr. Singh discussed various Anticancer, Antiviral, Antifungal and other biological properties of plant based ligands (lectins), their role in cell & tissue histochemistry and protective role of ligands in the fetus development processes against different diseases by providing antibodies. He also enlightened the students with important actions of ligands as hormonal receptors and migration of lymphocytes from blood stream to lymph nodes and other lymphoid organs.
PrincipalDr. Mehal Singh welcomed the chief guest and he stressed on the need of such informative lectures for the knowledge enhancement and personality development of the students. Dr. Parmjit Kaur HOD gave vote of thanks. Prof. NavneenBawa, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. M.S. Batra, Dean Sciences, Prof. Kirandeep Kaur, Dr. P.K. Ahuja and Prof. Kulbir Kaur were also present during the lecture.
