Dr. Balwinder Singh, Assistant Professor in PG Department of Biotechnology, Khalsa College Amritsar, has been selected for the prestigious UGC Research Award. The award is given to researcher who have done outstanding research work in their career in life sciences from all over the country, said Principal of the College Dr.Mehal Singh. He added that the award carries a research grant to carry out independent research in their proposed area during the tenure of award in the College. He congratulated him for his selection for this award saying this was an honour for him as well as this historic institution.
Prof. Balwinder Singh has published 41 research articles (research papers, reviews, chapters in books) in national and international journal of repute. He has made significant contributions in the field of Biotechnology in this college in last eight years. During serving as assistant professor in this institution earlier he has also been honored with Young Scientist Award and Best Science Teacher Award (colleges) by Punjab Academy of Sciences on the basis of academic and research contribution. He is presently working as principal investigator and co-investigator in many research projects funded by different funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, DST, DBT and SERB.
