Guest Lecture by Area Manager FCI
Department of Agriculture, Khalsa College organized a guest lecture on ‘Wheat procurement in Punjab by FCI’. The Chief guest Mr. Ram Babu Meena, Area Manager, Food corporation of India Amritsar said that over and about MSP of Rs 1735/ quintal paid to farmers, FCI has to incure expenditure of Rs.164 per quintal to cover the marketing charges. Of these charges, maximum amount is incurred as Mandi Board Committee fee (Rs.52/quintal), Rural Development fee (Rs.52/ quintal) followed by Commission Agents commission (Rs.43/quintal), labour charges (Rs. 11.44), stitching charges (Rs.2.68/quintal) and loading charges of Rs.3.24/quintal. He further apprised the students about the job prospects in the different technical streams of FCI. Dr. Mehal Singh Principal Khalsa College, Amritsar and Dr. Randeep Kaur Bal HOD thanked the Chief guest for the significant information provided to the students.
