Pak folk artist Warsi leave audience at Khalsa College captivated, recite Warish Shah`s `Kalaam` on 19th April 2015

The audience at historic Khalsa College was virtually captivated with the `magic of music’ as Pakistan’s famous folk artist Ustad Khadim Hussain Warsi enthralled teachers, students and music lovers with the `Kalaam’ of mystic poet of erstwhile united Punjab, Waris Shah. He recited the famous `Heer’ and other verses from the famous `Kisaa Heer Ranjha’ of Waris and kept audience spell-bound for one and half hour.

The program, organized by Khalsa College in collaboration of Dilbir Foundation to promote cultural and spiritual heritage of Punjab, witnessed the `ultimate romance’ of music. `Avaal Hamad Khuda Da’, Ishaq Jag Da Mool’, `Heer Di Doli’ and `Baabul’ presented gripping effect as the audience was seen swaying heads to the music and singing power of Warsi. He also recited Sultan Bahu’s `Alaf Chambe Dee Booti’ which received standing ovations.

Another Pak artist Shama who accompanied Warsi also took the stage to appreciations as she recited various popular Punjabi numbers. Khalsa College Governing Council (KCGC) honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina whow as chief guest at the occasion termed Warsi having magic in his voice whose music and renditions were equal to communion with God. He said such music programs helps forging cultural ties between two neighbouring countries.

Chhina along with KCGC joint secretary, Finance and Chief of Dilbir Foundation Gunbir Singh and Principal Dr.Mehal Singh honoured the artists after the program. Guru Nanak Dev University Registrar Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Prof. Jagrup Singh Sekhon, Professor Raminder Kaur, College Registrar Prof.Devinder Singh, Prof.Daljit Singh, Prof Satnam Singh and others were present. During the function a book on `Punjab Heritage’ written by Col. (Rtd) Partap Singh was also released.
